Congrats to Joe for a well deserved honor! A longtime resident of the neighborhood, Joe Strahm puts plenty of effort into his beautiful landscaping, including growing some of his plants from seed. Take a stroll down Sheridan Court to check it out!
Our June recipients of the Yard of the Month honor moved into their home nearly 20 years ago and have been adding their touch to the landscaping ever since. Congrats to Brian and Kay on West Foster! Well deserved!
Yard of the Month is back for 2021! A big congratulations to Greg and April for kicking off the honor this season. They keep a beautifully maintained landscape and put on quite the show with their tulips in April.
The Foster Park Neighborhood is organizing a group of volunteers to participate in this year’s Great American Cleanup on Saturday, May 1, 2021.
This is a fun, all-ages opportunity to hang out with friends and neighbors while beautifying the community. We had a great time with this event in previous years and hope to grow the size of our volunteer group.
We will plan to clean up nearby Indian Village Park (Bluffton Road across from The Clyde) and the surrounding area from 9am-11am on Saturday, May 1st.
The City provides garbage bags, gloves, and t-shirts for all volunteers who sign up in advance. Please REGISTER ONLINE no later than Thursday, March 8th to guarantee a t-shirt.
Our neighborhood is excited to partner with the Fairmont and Southwood Park Neighborhoods for the Light Up The Night event! Join us on Saturday, December 12th from 6-8pm to enjoy all the sights and sounds around the area!
Enjoy cruising or walking around our neighborhoods to take in the holiday displays and listen to the festive music being played. Along the way, you can grab a free cup of hot chocolate (while supplies last) at The Friendly Fox, where volunteers will be collecting non-perishable food donations for Community Harvest. Email the association if you have items to donate but prefer to have them picked up from your home and taken to the collection site. We are happy to help!
Other local businesses will be offering special discounts, including discounted pre-order (by 4pm) carry out wine and charcuterie boards from Antonuccio’s Italian Market, $6 one topping pizzas from Tasty Pizza, and $5 ricotta donuts at Chance Bar.
Several candy stops will also be located throughout the participating neighborhoods (including a couple in our neighborhood: 1135 W. Foster and 1305 Sheridan) and a virtual scavenger hunt will give you unique items to look out for. Check out the event page for maps and details.
Even if you prefer to stay in for the evening, make sure to turn on those decorative light displays for all to enjoy! Thanks to all those participating by hosting a candy stop, playing holiday music, displaying scavenger hunt items, or otherwise celebrating our neighborhood.
Congratulations to Phil and Steve for being our final Yard of the Month winners for 2020! Their landscaping is always beautiful, but the seasonal light display really makes their home pop for the holiday season. Looks great!
Relative newcomers to the neighborhood David and Rod have already made a splash with a variety of landscaping additions. Their fall decorations really made the beautiful brick home stand out. Congrats!
